Longer Sessions

50 minute sessions are usually the standard for therapists. I do 20% longer sessions for individuals and 50% longer sessions for relationships to ensure we can create the depth needed for the change and growth you’re hoping for (in an overall shorter amount of time than the average). To give you an idea of my 50m prices (of which I don’t do), they would be $137. This may be helpful as you compare pricing with other therapists.

Insurance

For many society driven reasons, I do not accept insurance. However, check with your insurance to see if they accept out-of-network reimbursement for mental health services. If so, I can set up an insurance-approved receipt (superbill) for you to submit on a monthly basis so that your insurance can reimbursement you for our work.

Transparent Budgeting

In our society, improving our mental health and developing emotional regulation and relationship skills are considered investments. I treat this investment you’re making with the utmost respect. One of the ways I do that is by making your investment less of a mystery and helping you budget appropriately.

I really wish this process was quick, but our nervous systems take time to rewire. The work is steady and compounding, with the ultimate goal that this change will be authentic and life-long. Based on years of my own clinical data and real success stories, I’ve put together some averages to help you budget.

The Momentum Arc

When we first start our work together (for the first 6 months), weekly sessions are necessary for the compounding momentum it gives us. When these beginning session are closer together, your memory, traction, and focus stay grounded and fresh in the new safety, skills, frameworks, and options you’ll be experimenting with.

On the contrary, if we start with bi-weekly sessions (in the first 6 months) and have bigger gaps between sessions, we tend to fall back into old patterns, familiar environments, and baseline triggers. Each time we meet, it takes longer to get back to the safety and understandings we ended with in the previous session, and we end up losing a portion of our progress.

Moreover, if we started with monthly sessions (in the first 6 months), we end up losing most of our progress each session due to a restarting effect. And, your investment becomes a wash.

However, we don’t want to stay weekly forever. The weekly momentum within the arc loses its vigor around 6 months because: you become well-versed in catching your old patterns with compassionate awareness and skill; you’re starting to see the exciting impacts of your courageous steps into your new patterns; and, by this point, you've made a significant reach towards your goals. So, shifting to bi-weekly would help you steadily move away from the dependence of therapy and give you more intentional time to practice outside of session while we solidify your growth.

Budget

The average amount of sessions needed for an authentic and structural shift to happen is typically 40 sessions for relationships and 50 sessions for individuals (when following this momentum arc).

Individual - 60m - $165/session

24 sessions over 6 months

+

26 sessions over 12 months

=

50 sessions over 1.5 years

($8,250)

Relationship - 75m - $205/session

24 sessions over 6 months

+

16 sessions over 8 months

=

40 Sessions over 1.2 years

($8,200)

I take your investment seriously. I put an incredible amount of energy into this work to ensure your investment is worth it. If we work hard together, I’m confident we’ll get you where you want to be. I look forward to discussing any questions you have about this when we meet.
